Book lovers in Kenya can enjoy a 45-day book fair as the MV Logos Hope, the world's largest floating bookstore, has docked in Mombasa.

The floating library, operated by non-profit organization GBA Ships in Germany, arrived in Mombasa on Tuesday with around 350 passengers aboard its 132-meter-long vessel.

The ship that arrived 18 years after its sister ship Duolos in 2005 is the floating library. The library is run by a team of volunteers from over 60 countries and has a collection of over 5,000 books. Additionally, it has amenities such as an international café, visitors’ deck, and welcome area.

The MV Logos Hope's visit to Kenya is a collaborative effort between KPA, Inchcape, the Mombasa County government, and Kenya Tourism Board. It comes at a time when Kenya has recently hosted several cruise ships.

Captain William Ruto, the Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), has welcomed the vessel's arrival, stating that it is significant for the Port of Mombasa and the entire country.

Visitors aged 3 to 60 can board the ship for a small fee to explore its many offerings, such as books on science, sports, hobbies, cookery, arts, medicine, languages, and faith.
